Direct answer

Diagnose the feed path from bulk supply to machine hand-off. Avoid correcting one fault by overdriving another stage.

A safety-first guide to diagnosing unstable parts feeding, jams, low output, marking, sensor faults and inconsistent machine hand-off.

Safety before diagnosis

Isolate energy and follow the machine's safe system of work before entering, cleaning, adjusting or removing covers. Tuning, electrical work and safety-function changes should be carried out by competent personnel. Observe the fault from outside the safeguarded area first.

Safety-critical guidance

Do not bypass guards, defeat interlocks or adjust unsafe moving equipment to investigate a fault.

1. Record the exact symptom

Note component revision, bulk level, recipe, controller setting, machine demand and the precise point where flow changes. Separate no-feed, low-feed, wrong orientation, queue pressure, sensor and escapement faults.

2. Check the incoming components

Confirm the correct part, production condition and batch. Oil, dust, flash, distortion, static, mixed variants or small tolerance changes can alter behaviour significantly.

3. Check bulk replenishment

A feeder may be starved or flooded even when the main hopper looks full. Inspect bridging, metering, level sensing, drop position and the quantity held in the primary feeder.

4. Follow orientation and recirculation

Identify where correct parts are lost, rejected parts re-enter, or components overlap, nest or jam. Do not simply increase drive until the effect on marking, noise and stability is understood.

5. Inspect the buffer and hand-off

Check back-pressure, covers, guides, low-level sensors, stop position, escapement timing and host-machine demand. A healthy bowl can still appear slow when the exit track or interface is unstable.

6. Restore a known baseline

Return only authorised settings to the documented recipe, test one change at a time and record the result. If geometry, safety, wiring or control logic must change, escalate through the machine change-control process.
